Zac Crouse, tool room tech, joined the Buckeye Fasteners Company in August of 2018. With a passion to learn new skills, Zac was initially attracted to Buckeye by their family-like atmosphere. Throughout his time here, he has honed his problem solving skills and works closely with his coworkers to get the job done. Read along as he sheds some light on his experience and share details about himself.

What do you enjoy most about the work you do?

My current role allows me to constantly learn new skills, and I really enjoy that part of the job.

What inspired you to join the team here?

I chose to join the Buckeye team primarily because of their family-centric atmosphere.

What would you describe as a “typical” work week?

My typical work week consists of working closely with my team and primarily focusing on how we can solve the various problems that we tend to encounter.

Looking back, what advice would you give to newer employees who are just starting their journey with the company and may eventually become long-term ESOP participants? 

Newer employees should always be willing to learn, and have an open mind when it comes to cross-training.

When you’re not working, what do you enjoy doing?

Outside of work, I really enjoy spending time with my family.

What is something surprising that not many people know about you?

It may be surprising for people to find out that I’m in a band.

Favorite food, celebrities, sports teams?

I enjoy a good frozen acai berry bowl!

Most important question…

With which cartoon character would you most wish to swap lives with? Why?

If I could swap lives with a cartoon character, I would choose Aang from Avatar the Last Airbender. Not only because he masters the four elements: water, earth, fire, and air, but Aang is a happy go lucky character who is also courageous and kind. While Aang doesn’t always make the right decisions, he does learn lessons from the adversity he faces. The dichotomy between choosing life or death brings up a difficult decision. Aang is forced to choose whether or not he should fight and kill the fire lord Ozai to save the world, which ultimately challenges his own beliefs and morals. Ultimately because Aang is the avatar and has mastered all four elements, he is able to make the best decision that will save the other nations and will not compromise his morals or beliefs, stripping the fire lord of his fire bending, his title as fire lord, and exiling him for the rest of his life in prison. So because Aang is so powerful, compassionate, and a friend to all, this is why I would most wish to swap lives with him.

Zac’s six years at Buckeye Fasteners demonstrate a willingness to learn and problem solve. His dedication to his job has been essential to the company's success throughout the years. We are proud to have him as a part of our family. Thank you, Zac, for all that you do!
